It is commonly called the Strober because of its rapid and jerking movements, as ants of this species can be observed running rapidly with short, jerky motions. They have very large eyes on top of their head, providing good vision and the ability to see backwards. A Strober's body is a bright orange-brown in color, with a black head and abdomen tip.
